Place Georges Pompidou, 10:30 am, April 2006 | I went to the top level of the Pompidou Center and instead of looking out I looked down -- at the big sloping square below with its ever-changing population of people and pigeons.  I’d always thought this area leading to the museum’s entrance was cold and uninteresting, but now I see it differently.
