I honestly didn’t expect to like it, but when I caught sight of Jeff Koons’s monumental sculpture “Bouquet of Tulips” behind the Petit Palais I broke out into a smile. The sculpture was officially dedicated earlier this month after nearly three years of controversy about where to put it, how to pay for it, and whether it was even an appropriate memorial to the victims of the November 2015 terrorist attacks. At 41 feet tall and weighing 60 tons, it certainly looks like it’s here to stay. I’m a fan — I love the bold, bright colors and am reminded that the Eiffel Tower, the Musée Pompidou and the I.M. Pei pyramid at the Louvre all had many early detractors. We shall see if the Bouquet is in that same category — as the French say, on verra
