Place Saint-Supice, 4 pm, October 2004
These steps belong to Eglise Saint-Sulpice, one of the most famous churches in Paris (even before the publication of that infamous American best-seller), but for these young people the staircase simply offered a place to relax and enjoy the late afternoon sun. The composition and the contrast between light and shadow drew me to the scene initially, but when I look at the photo now it’s the people that most appeal to me.
