Avenue Foch | 11 am, 05-2010

Avenue Foch, 11 am, May 2010 | This entrance to the Porte Dauphine Métro station (the Western terminus of the number 2 line) is a rarity -- the only surviving enclosed glass subway entrance designed by architect Hector Guimard in the late 19th century. Its branching ironwork and glimmering glass canopy take you back in time at the foot of Avenue Foch in the 16th arrondissement. I'm not the only one captivated by it -- in 1978 it was designated as an official historic monument of France.
